Life Skills Instructor – Valley Youth House – West Chester, PA

The mission of Valley Youth House is to provide prevention and intervention services, counseling, life skills and behavioral health services to abused, neglected, and homeless youth and their families. Our programs foster positive growth enabling at risk youth and their families to become healthy, productive, responsible members of the community.

The Chester County IL Instructor is responsible for providing the delivery of the life skills and job skills curriculum, as well as related workshops to all referred youth.

Primary Responsibilities include:

To serve as a liaison with Children, Youth and Families and Juvenile Probation staff
To be responsible for ongoing curriculum improvement
To complete documentation in established time frames
To recruit community resources and guest speakers
To attend weekly supervision
To provide and coordinate transportation throughout Chester County
To instruct life skills and job skills groups
To respond to crisis situations in a proactive and effective manner
Organize provision of healthy meals for life skills groups
To secure job shadowing sites in Chester County

Other requirements include:

Ability to manage a flexible schedule
Availability to work up to two evenings a week
Must have a vehicle and valid PA driver’s license
Ability to pass a drug test, child abuse, criminal record, and FBI clearances

The ideal candidate will possess:

A commitment to positive youth development and a strengths-based approach.
Ability to work within a team.
Possess a Bachelors degree in Social Work, Education, or a related field.
Enjoys working with adolescents.
