WE CARE promotes safe motherhood and reduces maternal mortality in developing regions by providing health workers with reliable light and power for medical devices and mobile communication using solar electricity. There are 1300 of our Solar Suitcases in Africa and Asia, and we are growing rapidly, creating the need for a new position on our small but growing team.

This position works closely with staff across the organization to cultivate new funders, manage existing relationships and oversee a high volume of grant proposals and reports. A successful manager will demonstrate initiative at all stages of the partnership cycle from identifying prospects, building relationships, managing proposal development, ensuring adherence to grant requirements, writing reports and closing grants, and administering systems to track grant deliverables and donations. The position maintains ongoing relationships with new and existing partners.

Responsibilities Include:

· Stewardship of all institutional partnerships including relationship management, grant development and administration, and all associated engagement activities.

· Grant compliance and reporting in coordination with finance and program directors; maintain calendar for reporting to grantmakers.

· Manage the pipeline of individual and institutional supporters including past donors, those currently being cultivated and future prospects (including tracking in Salesforce CRM).

· Collaborate with program staff to develop program plans and metrics for grant proposals and implementation tools to track grant activities.

· Write, edit and submit general operating and program-specific grant proposals and reports on a timely basis and in collaboration with executive and program staff as needed.

· Coordinate engagement of institutional partners and individual donors in program opportunities and fundraising events, including mentorship, advisory boards, speaking opportunities, meetings with staff or fellows, etc.

Experience and Abilities:

Required:

BA or BS with 5-7 years relevant work experience
Strong attention to detail
Project management training or demonstrated aptitude
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong sense of teamwork and an ability to work collaboratively with other staff members
Demonstrated experience working with foundations and private donors

Desired:

Experience with large NGOs (USAID, DFID, Unicef, etc.)
