The Maryland Consumer Rights Coalition (MCRC) advances economic rights and equity through research, advocacy, consumer education, organizing, and direct service work. MCRC works to build a multi-racial, people-centered movement to expand economic protections and community reinvestment for working families, low-income communities, and communities of color. We work statewide, as well as at the City, county, and federal level.

We have an exciting new opportunity for a passionate and energetic advocate, committed to policy research, coalition-building, economic rights and equity to join us as a full-time Digital Equity Program Manager to lead a new area of work around digital equity.

Major Responsibilities:
Policy Research:
Work closely with the Executive Director to lead the development of a policy and research agenda on digital equity. Issues for research include access to digital resources, pricing and regulation of digital access, concerns regarding use of algorithms embedded in digital design, products, and services.
Meet with local, state, and national leaders on digital access as well as equity concerns regarding digital products and services.
Organize convenings with key stakeholders to develop analysis of policy landscape.
Develop white paper on digital equity issues and agenda
Develop research briefs on digital equity opportunities and challenges

Policy Advocacy:
Lead policy advocacy on digital equity issues in Maryland.
Write testimony and present testimony on digital equity issues to stakeholders.
Organize stakeholders to develop a joint agenda for policy reform.
Convene and facilitate stakeholder meetings to achieve goals.
Represent MCRC on digital equity issues at state, county, and national events
Track legislation on key issues
Expand and deepen individual and organizational engagement on digital equity work, particularly in key geographic areas.
Consumer Education & Organizing:
Conduct educational outreach efforts on digital equity with organizations, workforce development groups, at places of worship, community meetings,etc.
Organize one panel on digital equity issues for MCRC’s annual conference.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:
Passion for and commitment to advancing economic justice, financial inclusion, and equity issues.
5 years experience working on policy research/developing policy agenda with demonstrable results.
Experience with policy advocacy or campaigns, with experience working in Baltimore City or Annapolis preferred. At least three years of experience in a leadership role in community and/or political organizing; OR a degree in a related field and two years of experience accepted.
Excellent speaking and writing, and analytical skills. Able to translate complex policy into clear and actionable language in person and on paper.
Strong organizational skills, ability to stay focused with attention to detail while working on multiple projects.
An independent thinker and problem-solver, who is also self-motivated and a team player.
Ability to meet multiple, shifting deadlines and priorities with nimbleness and flexibility while maintaining a perspective on long-term goals.
Commitment to inclusive, multicultural programming; prior experience working within coalitions with diverse communities and an understanding of intersectional oppressions
Ability to collaborate and participate in complex decision making processes.
Proficiency in MS Office, Google Suite
Access to a vehicle required. Mileage reimbursed at federal rate.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
