Development Assistant – East Bay Community Law Center – Berkeley, CA

The East Bay Community Law Center (EBCLC) is seeking a passionate, reliable, and motivated part-time Development Assistant to provide support with the fund raising and public relations activities of the organization. The ideal candidate is a good humored and extremely organized individual with attention to detail, excellent judgment and discretion, strong writing skills, a flexible and proactive attitude, and a commitment to EBCLC’s social justice mission. EBCLC is a non-profit organization founded in 1988 to provide high quality legal services to low-income clients and educational opportunities for law students and community volunteers. As UC Berkeley Law School’s community-based clinic, EBCLC provides services to nearly 5,000 clients each year with a staff of 40 and an annual roster of 150 law student interns in the areas of Housing, Health & Welfare, Immigration, Economic Security & Opportunity, and Education Defense & Justice for Youth.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide general administrative and organizational support to the EBCLC Development Team and EBCLC’s Board of Directors as needed
Manage all aspects of development database, including ongoing internet research for contact updates, data entry, processing contributions, gift acknowledgements, and generating regular donor reports
Coordinate development communications, including generating and mailing solicitation letters and social media communications with EBCLC supporters
Maintain up-to-date paper and electronic files on all aspects of development activities
Coordinate production of public relations materials, including annual report and quarterly newsletters
Support the Development calendar of activities, including regular schedule of snail mail, email and social media communications to ongoing and potential supporters
Assist with special events planned by EBCLC Development Team
Additional tasks as assigned by Supervisor

Minimum Qualifications:

B.A. Degree; Associates Degree accepted with 2 years administrative or other similar experience
Detail-oriented with time-management, priority-setting, and organizational skills
Prior database management experience necessary, specifically with DonorPerfect and Exceed strongly preferred
Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office, including extensive use of Excel
Excellent written communications skills
Professional demeanor and customer services skills
Ability to exercise diplomacy and tact in handling confidential and/or sensitive matters
Friendly, independent self-starter and outstanding team player
Flexible and able to work in a fast-changing environment
Commitment to EBCLC’s social justice mission
Previous experience in non-profit fundraising preferred
