Currently celebrating its 27th anniversary, the Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC) was founded in 1988 by its Artistic Director Francisco J. Núñez to provide children of all backgrounds with a unique program of music education and choral performance that seeks to fulfill the potential of every child, while creating a model of artistic excellence and humanity that enriches the community. YPC is the recipient of America’s highest honor for youth programs—a National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award—presented to the chorus by First Lady Michelle Obama.

Position Overview
The organization has an immediate requirement for an experienced Development Coordinator. This individual will work with the Development team to coordinate and implement the organization’s fundraising activities, including the annual giving campaign, individual donations, foundation, corporate, and government grant submissions. S/he will report to the Director of Development.

General Position Responsibilities
Operational Specifics:

Cultivate and solicit contributions from individual, corporate, foundation and government donors and prospects;
Work with Development team to prepare written letters of inquiry, proposals, reports and other funding requests;
Compose and track acknowledgement letters;
Coordinate government solicitation activities, including the annual City Council Campaign;
Accompany YPC Artistic Director and Board members to donor meetings, special events and other development-related activities;
Assist with planning of and participate in the YPC Board Development Committee meetings;
Create organizational and project-specific budgets;
Supervise and manage day-to-day activities of the Development team.

Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred;
Proven ability to effectively assess, manage and evaluate staff;
3-plus years of development experience required or equivalent combination of education and experience;
Exemplary writing, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Proficiency in Excel required;
Familiarity with Microsoft Access a plus;

    Ability to work calmly within a high-pressure and fast-paced environment.
