IT Applications Analyst – Texas Medical Center – Houston, TX

General Description:

Works closely with customers, business analysts, and team members to understand business requirements that drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions. These solutions must be aligned with business and IT strategies and comply with the organization’s architectural standards. Serves as single point-of-contact for end-users after Power Users have assisted end-users. Performs problem identification and on-the-spot training to prevent problem reoccurrence and knowledge transfer. Escalates Tier 2 problems to appropriate support (e.g., technical experts or process experts). May develop on-line help and update systems support help scripts.

Applies system solutions to business problems through the design and programming of automated systems. Configures, analyzes, designs, develops, and maintains ERP program codes and applications to support business processes and functions. Works on elements of large, complex installations. Performs all aspects of programming assignments and assists with systems design. Fully knowledgeable in programming languages, such as SQL. Applies knowledge and experience with technology and application development methodologies to perform basic systems analysis techniques, testing, debugging, file design and storage.

Has a thorough understanding of the business processes and flows to enable the analysis of business requirements and the development of solutions for the business functions. Responsible for the identification of and resolution of gaps in the business processes. Involved in security/authorization set-up, user documentation, data interface design, data migration and reconciliation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

ERP application support, interface programming, reporting and general system processing and support

Provides technical support of the ERP application and other home grown .NET applications
Supports end-user requests for interfaces, reports, and general application support primarily using SQL
Responsible for conducting prototypes, developing functional specifications, data mapping, field level mapping, setting of configuration tables and setting of transaction/control tables
Support trouble shooting of performance or other related application issues such as latency, report tuning, report development, etc
Maintain ERP systems security through user profile management, creates and updates access permissions and maintains user accounts. Responsibilities may also include participation in component and data architecture design, performance monitoring, and product evaluation
Manages database transactions and third party uploads and interfaces

Education/Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or equivalent work experience with at least 6 to 8 years of IT work experience in systems administration, programming and application support

Bachelor’s degree in related field
Experience in managing and maintaining integrations with ERP systems
Experience in systems analysis, design and a solid understanding of development, quality assurance and integration methodologies
Experience in developing interfaces
Broad technical knowledge including ERP and application development with full understanding of SQL
Microsoft certified professional .NET developer with experience through 4.5.1
Create custom operational and financial reports leveraging the data base (Ability to translate customer requests into usable reports)
Experience in Oracle and SQL data bases as well as ETL for data warehouses
Understanding of cloud computing

Other:

Advanced degrees or certificates in information technology or similar preferred. Knowledge of privacy and other industry compliance requirements.
