Administrative / Database Coordinator – Morningside Academy – Seattle, WA

Morningside Academy is a grade and middle school that provides struggling learners the opportunity to catch up, build up, and get ahead in an effort to enable them to achieve their greatest potential. Extensive assessments and research-based methods with proven results are utilized in our unique program. Morningside students have not previously reached their potential; many have learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, or ADD/ADHD; all have average to well above average intelligence. Morningside is not a school for children with significant emotional problems, behavioral problems, or developmental delays.

Position Summary: Morningside Academy is seeking an exceptional administrator who enjoys working with children and youth and has a passion for database management. In addition to outstanding organizational and time management skills, the ideal candidate is positive and excited to join a dynamic group that has a “children first” values set.

Primary responsibilities include:

Front Desk Coordination

Oversee a fast-paced front desk, greeting and directing visitors and phone calls
Act as central “clearing house” for student, faculty and staff questions and issues
Distribute daily prescription medication to students. Address student medical issues and distribute over-the-counter remedies as needed.
Maintain confidential student records
Respond to student IT issues, communicate with Director of IT
Help supervise front desk work study staff and assign tasks as needed
Receive checks in person and pass along to accountant following internal controls
Edit, format, and copy documents
Help with light facilities work, such as refilling water dispenser, cleaning student spills and messes, and restocking supplies as needed
Help organize school field trips, assemblies, and other special events
Support some evening school events (about 8 evenings in a school year)
Perform other routine administrative tasks as needed

Database Management

Serve as lead on database administration. Take a proactive role in suggesting improvements and researching better methods of maintaining records.
Pull records and run ad hoc reports (often time sensitive) for school principal and psychologist
Perform routine database maintenance

Preferred Qualifications:

A sincere enjoyment of elementary and middle school aged children
Database expertise and the desire research and recommend system improvements to best accommodate the school’s needs
Excellence under pressure and the ability to multitask while maintaining a good sense of humor

The Ideal Candidate will have:

Bachelors degree in any subject or 2-year degree in a technology-related field
Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point)
Extensive database experience
Proven ability to troubleshoot problems (Tech Support, Game Testing, et)
Exceptional organizational skills with ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks concurrently
Effective verbal and written communications skills

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a full-time position for the 2015-2016 academic school year.
Salary competitive depending on experience.
