Marketing / Communications Consultant – VIA (Volunteers in Asia) – San Francisco, CA

Position Overview

VIA’s Asia Programs seeks a high-performing communications and marketing contractor to develop relationships with universities as we expand our portfolio of short-term experiential education programs in Asia. The position blends relationship building with marketing strategy and implementation. The ideal candidate is a natural networker and savvy with the latest marketing tools. S/he is loves to try new things and welcomes the opportunity to pitch to new audiences. Most importantly, s/he believes in the power of international education as a force for good. The contract is part-time and will begin in November 2015 and end in January 2016. There is a possibility of a second contract from February-May for related work.

Key Responsibilities

Develop high quality leads and relationships with university centers, departments, and professors which lead to new partnerships
Create and coordinate multi-channel communications which emphasise VIA’s unique value proposition
Coordinate with VIA staff, alumni, and participants to generate compelling visual materials and written testimonial.
Track campaigns through dashboards and other tools
Advise and implement SEO and create and implement a paid advertising strategy

Position Qualifications

Experience in the international education field highly preferred
Experience designing and implementing marketing campaigns
SEO and online advertising expertise
Excellent communication skills
Organized, independent, and self-motivated
Preference for people who are located in the Bay Area

Compensation

The initial contract range is $3,000-$5,000, depending on experience and weekly availability until the end of January 2016.

Fall /Winter Project List

Develop new relationships with university departments, centers, and professors to create a pipeline of new program opportunities
Assist with the implementation of a campaign to leverage current participant and alumni relationships to develop new partnerships
Advise staff and implement SEO
Create and implement Google Adwords campaign using Google Grants for Nonprofits and paid advertising
Assist with the implementation of a campaign to enroll students in our summer 2016 programs
Create marketing collateral, especially videos, that tell VIA’s story in a compelling way
Lead public relations campaign to increase VIA’s visibility
Pitch stories, write press releases, and develop channels for press and other media coverage
Work with staff to develop and implement VIA’s ongoing social media strategy
Advise on the development of a new website set to launch in winter 2016
