Federal / International Grants Manager – Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) – New York, NY

Position Summary:

NRDC is seeking a Federal and International Grants Manager to work with the Finance team in our NY office.

Responsibilities:

Work with Development and Program staff to identify and secure governmental and international grants that will help NRDC further its mission.
Train NRDC staff on grants management and compliance.
Perform functions of financial administration and reporting to include, but not limited to: preparation and timely submission of grant applications and reports, development and adjustment of associated budgets, coordination of budgeted funds, screening and processing requests for expenditures and ensuring the timely application for reimbursement/payment.
Update relevant databases such as[[http:grants.gov|grants.gov]] and[[http:sam.gov|sam.gov]] as needed.
Act as lead for annual A-133 audit.
Ensure compliance with the rules and regulations administered by the grantor; oversee any special audits conducted by grantor.
Develop internal procedures and best practices for working with Development and Program staff on grants management.
Update and maintain Policies and Procedures file.
Fully manage grants from proposal to closeout.
Prepare all relevant reporting documents and audit schedules.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field required; MBA, MPA or related advanced degree preferred.
Minimum 5 years Federal grants experience preferred.
Knowledge of and experience with federal compliance rules, regulations and standards associated with federal funds and non-profit financial management, such as A-110, A-122, A-133 and 22 CFR 226;
Experience with International grants and contracts preferred.
Strong analytical skills and ability to problem solve.
Able to meet deadlines, both those that are known well in advance as well as those that come with short notice.
Excellent writing skills.
Organized and detail oriented.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate financial information to non-financial staff.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
