Reporting to and in partnership with the Executive Director (ED), the Development Manager (Manager) will spearhead development efforts as the Joe Niekro Foundation™ continues to grow. A new position in the organization, the Manager will have the opportunity to build the development function.

Responsibilities

Develop and execute the Joe Niekro Foundation™ annual fundraising plan
Secure financial support from individuals, foundations and corporations
Manage the data entry for donor, prospective donor and gift processing database
Manage donor acknowledgement, including thank you notes and phone calls
Monitor Joe Niekro Foundation™ compliance with donor gift intent
Maintain a comprehensive schedule of grant opportunities, deadlines, follow-up and reporting requirements for grants received
Work with Executive Director to prepare quality grant applications for the Joe Niekro Foundation™ programs
Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors
Create and execute a strategy for a large sustained base of annual individual donors
Oversee organization of special events
Develop and track proposals and reports for all foundation fundraising

Qualifications

BA or equivalent experience
Minimum three years experience in grant writing, individual donor development, and/or fund development
Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Quickbooks
