Director of Development – UNRWA USA

DESCRIPTION
UNRWA USA is seeking an energetic and confident Director of Development who is passionate about raising funds to benefit Palestine refugees. A new position at UNRWA USA, the Director of Development will lead and manage the organization’s development efforts, including all aspects of fundraising.

What you’ll do:
Strategic organizational fundraising planning:
Work with management (Executive Director and Director of Communications) to conceptualize and manage a dynamic annual and long-term organizational fundraising strategy, including individual giving, major and mid-level donor portfolios, grants, endowments, planned giving, capital campaigns, and events.
Track progress toward annual fundraising goals using Salesforce and provide regular reporting to the board of directors and staff.

Drive implementation:
Lead the day-to-day execution of UNRWA USA’s fundraising strategy to achieve campaign and annual goals of over $3 million, with support from the Communications and Development Officer and other staff.
Create and manage engaging online and offline fundraising campaigns in conjunction with the Communications department.
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and maintain the organization’s giving prospects, with emphasis on meaningful donor stewardship and relationship-building.
Collaborate across departments and with UNRWA staff in the Middle East to create cases for support of UNRWA’s work and create winning grant proposals to benefit Palestine refugees.
Maximize the engagement of the board of directors under the direction of the Executive Director to achieve fundraising goals.
Represent UNRWA USA in various capacities at donor and donor prospect meetings.
Build a strong vision for the UNRWA USA University Scholarship Fund to inspire individuals and organizations across the US to become scholarship sponsors and cultivate strong relationships with these sponsors.

You have at least eight (8) years of conceptualizing and implementing creative and on-trend fundraising strategies with proven organizational impact.
You have a successful track record of submitting winning grant proposals, and knowledge of or experience in establishing endowments, creating capital campaigns, and engaging donors in planned giving.
You have the ability to leverage the current strengths of the organization’s fundraising team and enjoy helping to develop staff including determining and managing roles and responsibilities.
You live to build and sustain strong, meaningful relationships, both personally and professionally.
You have experience with donor management tools, preferably Salesforce, Classy, Mailchimp, and Squarespace.
You’re known for your can-do spirit, organizational skills, resourcefulness, and consistency. You get stuff done and are motivated by the impact your actions have.
You’re willing and have the ability to work occasional nights and weekends.
You have the ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
You have the highest level of discretion and confidentiality with sensitive donor information.
