Development Internship – Young Invincibles – Washington, DC

Principal Responsibilities: The Development Intern is responsible for supporting all organization wide development efforts and assisting with the day-to-day management of YI’s offices. Specifically, the Development Intern will work on proposal writing, prospect research, database entry and providing other support as needed.

The Development Intern must be able to work efficiently and with a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment that requires adaptability to shifting priorities, a sense of urgency, and a commitment to excellence. They must be comfortable in a start-up style atmosphere requiring organization, creativity and initiative, ability to “roll with the punches,” and a sense of humor.

Duties include:

Assisting with drafting LOIs, concept papers, proposals and reports for corporate funders and foundations
Conducting prospect research for corporations and foundations
Updating and maintaining donor databases and systems
Supporting the Director of Foundation Relations in other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Currently a college student
Ability to work 15-20hrs/week, October – December
Strong researching, writing and editing skills
Strong organizational and task management skills
Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced work environment
Interest in nonprofit development and fundraising
Experience with common computer programs (i.e. Word, Excel)
