Campaigner / Media Strategist – Scion Nonprofit Staffing – San Francisco, CA

Scion Staffing (www.scionstaffing.com) the Bay Area’s leading staffing specialist has been engaged to find a new Campaigner/Media Strategist for our client, an amazing global nonprofit dedicated to wildlife conservation. This position is an easy commute, close to BART in the Financial District of San Francisco.

OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Campaigner/Media Strategist will lead the US implementation of a joint program with the Fish and Wildlife Service, the federal agency protecting wildlife, and other partners to raise awareness of and reduce demand for illegal wildlife products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare and produce materials for the campaign for leaflets, website and education packs.
Brief media and organize events, liaise with the Fish and Wildlife Service, create partnerships with other NGOs, zoos and aquaria, airports, travel companies, sports franchises and other interested businesses.
Recruit ambassadors for the campaign.
Work closely with the Media Relations Manager to recruit pro bono media partners and secures media space.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of five or more years of increasingly responsible roles at a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization.
Strong knowledge and familiarity with wildlife trade issues and protection programs will be an asset.
Strong, vetted media connections across the US a huge plus!
Excellent writing and editing skills are necessary for the role.
Personal qualities of integrity and dedication to organization’s mission are important.
Strong project management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple, often competing demands is critical.
Ability to travel extensively
Ability to work very independently without a great deal of supervision.
Excellent interpersonal skills to influence staff, volunteers, and pro bono partners.

COMPENSATION:
$55K TO $80K annual salary, DOE as well as excellent benefits.
