Youth Health / Prevention Program Manager – TOGETHER! – Lacey, WA

POSITION PURPOSE: The Program Manager will be responsible for managingyouth prevention program planning, including oversight of youth leadership development efforts, prevention presentations, alcohol/tobacco and other drug use prevention, social norms poster campaigns, and support of agency efforts to build and maintain strong working relations with local partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Youth and Family Prevention Programming

Work with area schools and communities to implement and manage social norms campaigns within and outside of schools.
Work with community partners to plan, implement and expand a community norms campaign.
Plan, oversee and implement alcohol and tobacco retailer engagement/education projects.
Create prevention-related educational materials and media when needed.
Respond to requests for presentations, materials and tabling at community-based events; follow established agency procedures for tabling.
Work with local schools to support youth development and leadership efforts.
Deliver or coordinate alcohol, tobacco and other drug abuse prevention presentations (including tobacco prevention/cessation, marijuana, e-cigarettes/vaping, secondhand smoke and/or traditional tobacco use topics as appropriate).
Evaluate and report on program outcomes.
Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate part-time program assistants, interns and/or volunteers.
Represent TOGETHER! programs, building relationships and investments with key stakeholders and donors.

GENERAL ADMINISTRATION

Understand and apply the Strategic Prevention Framework model and other scientific models and theories in the fields of prevention, health science or the science of health education.
Assess community and program-related needs, build community capacity, create strategic plans, and implement and evaluate work.
Consistently exercise sound judgment and discretion in all aspects of work. Lead visioning and program growth planning. Create and manage program budgets, including contingency planning.
Evaluate and report on program outcomes.
Solely responsible for reporting to all funders of projects under your management.
Ensure programs follow all agency policies and procedures.
Document at least 10 hours of professional development training annually in prevention, health, education, social norms marketing, fund development and/or related fields.
Lead and assist with agency-wide fund development efforts for programs, including conducting grant research, writing grants, and soliciting and securing donations and other financial support.
Participate in community meetings relevant to program focus and/or agency needs.
Collaborate with others inside and outside of the agency to plan and convene meetings, conference and events, as well as to promote agency mission and goals.
Other duties as required and/or assigned, including performance of own administrative tasks.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor’s degree required; education focus in Health Science, Community Health, Education, Human Services, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or closely related field required.
Completion of Substance Abuse Prevention Specialist Training, or willingness to complete within first year of employment.
Current Associate Prevention Professional, Certified Prevention Professional or Certified Health Education Specialist certification, or willingness to obtain within first year of employment.
Successful experience in program or project planning, implementation and evaluation.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office and general computer skills; willingness to do own administrative work.
Willingness to follow agency policies and procedures.
Self-starter with proven ability to work both independently and as a member of a team; able to creatively solve problems, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Display proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer skills.
Reliable transportation, valid Washington state driver’s license and liability insurance.
Willing to work occasional evening and/or weekend hours.
Current CPR & First Aid certification & current Food Handler Permit

Accountable To: Deputy Director

Compensation: $16-$18 per hour depending on qualifications. Position is full-time. Hours are typically divided over 5 days per week; occasional weekend or evening hours may be required.
