Special Events Manager – The Animal Medical Center – New York, NY

The Animal Medical Center, a full-service, nonprofit veterinary teaching and research specialty hospital on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, seeks a Special Events Manager to join our team. The position is responsible for all Development Department events and for assisting with donor cultivation, stewardship and recognition.

Responsibilities include:

Plan, coordinate and implement all aspects of Development cultivation, stewardship and fundraising events including but not limited to invitations, RSVP tracking, catering logistics, set-up and follow up after the event. Key events include Annual Top Dog Gala, White Coat Ceremony, Graduation, donor society events.
Assist the Living Legends Committee and the Junior Committee with planning and implementing their events.
Manage budgets to ensure that contracts are reviewed and signed, bills paid and spending limits are not exceeded.
Track and report on event income and attendance. Implement follow up procedures to ensure that pledges are confirmed and paid.
Write and prepare acknowledgment letters, post event thank you letters and other correspondence.
Schedule committee meetings, take and distribute minutes and follow up with committee members on their assignments.
Cultivate and steward a small portfolio of assigned prospects. Activities are to include one-on-one meetings, site visits to AMC and other contacts. Write and submit contact reports.
Staff and support the CEO’s and Executive Director’s involvement in events, with committees and as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualified Individuals will have

Bachelor’s degree.
Three to five years of non-profit and fundraising events or comparable experience.
Superior planning and organizational skills.
Ability to manage a variety of projects simultaneously.
Accuracy and meticulous attention to detail are required.
Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience with RaisersEdge or other fundraising CRM software desired.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Interest in and ability to be comfortable around companion animals is essential.
