As our Workforce Analytics Manager, you will lead a new team and a critical new function in Human Resources. The Workforce Analytics team will be responsible for HR’s data systems, overseeing data entry and analysis in order to produce accurate and actionable information about SFUSD’s workforce. As the head of this team, you will also serve as the lead for data systems in Human Resources, working closely with our Information Technology Department to troubleshoot day-to-day issues, streamline processes and create innovative solutions that bolster the work of the entire Human Resources Department. You will help to lead HR’s transformational work to become a strategic partner in the district and deliver on the promises outlined in both Impact Learning. Impact Lives., as well as our long-term, city-wide North Star, Vision 2025.

We want someone with a critical eye towards systematic improvements who is excited to lead a new team and who brings skills and experience with workforce analytics to SFUSD.

We expect our Workforce Analytics Manager to:

Direct and lead our Workforce Analytics team, supervising four direct reports and assigning roles and responsibilities across the team
Provide expert data analysis to answer critical research questions that will help the Human Resources Department manage and understand our work force
Develop, maintain and support HR reports and queries. Lead the development of standard reports for ongoing HR and customer needs.
Partner with Information Technology (IT) to communicate user requests and issues. Develop and maintain a clear understanding of HR business needs and strong working relationships with IT and HR in order to effectively meet user and customer needs and resolve issues.
Manage the development, testing and planning of new systems and/or enhancements
Coordinate across teams and departments – Staffing, Operations, IT, and other key partners to understand how HR’s data systems are used in order to envision and implement process improvements
Ensure strategic direction and oversight of initiatives within Human Resources that improve efficiency, data integrity and analysis
Facilitate project meetings with internal departments regarding new initiatives, policy changes, benefit changes and more as you represent the business needs of HR across SFUSD
Deliver necessary information and ensure training is available to Human Resources staff to maximize use of HR data systems
Provide technical assistance as needed
Complete special projects as needed, including but not limited to drafting business requirements for new initiatives, presentations, and technology and software evaluations

The strongest candidates will have:

Knowledge of urban public schools and/or public sector environments
Experience working with a variety of data systems; familiarity with PeopleSoft preferred
Supervisory experience and a clear vision for how to work across and manage a team
Familiarity with workforce analytics and ability to connect research questions to data systems
Ability to define and implement effective protocols and practices
Experience and success with effective communication to diverse groups of employees
Strong analytic and systems thinking to inform and conduct daily work
Ability to convert data into clear, presentable deliverables
Ability to coordinate and manage work with multiple competing priorities or perspectives
High professional standards for work quality
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information to various audiences
Ability to work effectively in difficult situations that may involve confidential or sensitive matters
Experience in a multi-union environment

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
Three years professional level experience in program administration and/or Human Resources and/or data analysis/analytics; experience working with and supporting complex HRIS systems and business process improvements for a large employer preferred.
