ReStore Director – Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake – Baltimore, MD

Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake ReStore, seeks a self-starting, entrepreneurial individual to manage and grow the ReStore. ReStore sells gently used and surplus building materials, appliances, housewares and furniture to the general public for a fraction of its worth. Revenue generated from the ReStore fuels the Habitat homeownership and repair programs that allow us to serve families in the Chesapeake region of Maryland. Collectively,Habitat Chesapeake houses 5 ReStores and encourages customers to Shop Volunteer and Donate.
ReStore Director
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Duties:
• ReStore Operations
-Maintain high levels of customer and donor service.
-Maximize organizational profits
-Oversee strategic planning for growth
-Provide vision for additional profit opportunities
-Address or attend conferences on behalf of the ReStore
-Oversee donation receiving process and call center
-Oversee inventory management including pricing and turnover
-Develop relationships with existing and potential donors to increase the quality and quantity of donations
-Develop relationships with business and neighborhood associations to increase awareness of ReStore brand
• Staff Development
-Provide leadership and approval to the nine ReStore managers including: five store managers, one operations manager, one volunteer manager, one logistics manager and the manager of development in the areas of planning, organization and management.
-Oversee goal development
-Provide training plans and complete scheduled management evaluations on a bi-yearly basis
-Serve as the ReStore representative to the HFHC Executive Team and Board of Directors
-Assist and direct managers in accountability processes that encourage staff responsibility for their job performance and maintain moral
-Establish and maintain staff culture that aligns with the Habitat for Humanity mission
-Ensure all HR policies are communicated on a regular basis and stores are in compliance with policies at all times
-Engage with volunteers as needed to maximize their participation and impact on the mission
• Financial Management
-Work in conjunction with the CEO and CFO to develop an annual operating budget and recommended capital expenditures
-Provide updates as required to keep Executive Team and Board of Directors apprised of the current status of financial performance as compared to budgeted goals
-Oversee financial controls
-Budget management and analysis
Qualifications:
• Understanding the Mission
-Belief in Habitat for Humanity’s mission, principles and structure, both at the international and local affiliate levels
-Entrepreneurial spirit and vision in order to lead organization through expansion and diversification of profitable opportunities
• Work Skills
-Ability to lead, train, and manage staff and engage volunteers in a positive manner to maintain a highly motivated organizational atmosphere
-Willingness to network as needed to advance the ReStore agenda
-Flexibility to perform different tasks in pursuing the mission of the organization
-Provide customer service oriented decision making in a professional manner
-Effective time management and organizational skills
-Effective written and oral communication skills
-Knowledge of sales, marketing, and logistics
-Computer skills including: MS Word, MS Excel, email, and working knowledge of POS operating systems
-Conflict resolution experience
• Experience and Education
-Minimum ten years prior work experience, preferably five years in retail or business management of a multi – location operation (operations, strategy, marketing, finance)
-Financial experience required: ability to create and monitor budgets and perform complex analyses
-Undergraduate degree required
-Ability to provide personal transportation
