JOB DESCRIPTION:WCIL has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time Research Aide (RA) to join the WCIL team to assist with a 18-month Robert Wood Johnson Foundation-funded study of health related decision making among disabled and older adult “dual eligible” consumers (i.e., those insured by both Medicare and Medi-Cal) in Los Angeles County. Duties include assisting with research, including analyzing data; and participation in the drafting of reports, policy briefs, and case studies. In addition, the RA will assist with administrative tasks, including: scheduling one-on-one interviews, focus groups, Community Advisory Group meetings, and project management meetings; documenting meeting proceedings; and coordinating project activities with our community partners.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:This position works under general supervision, working alone on routine or regular work assignments with the Executive Director and UCLA staff. This position reports to the Executive Director on non-routine assignments or when in doubt as to the correct procedures to follow.

RESPONSIBILITIES:• Assist with data collection and related project activities at multiple sites across Los Angeles County.• Assist with data transcription, analysis, and interpretation.• Assist with writing reports, policy briefs, and case studies.• Assist with presentation and dissemination of study results.• Project logistics (communications, scheduling, organizing project files and documents).• Coordinating project activities with community partners.

QUALIFICATIONS• Strong interviewing and communication skills.• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.• Strong verbal, writing, and editing skills.• Proficient in Microsoft Word programs – Word, Excel, Power Point.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:• B.A., B.S. degree or equivalent in human services or 5 years in a related field. Government benefits experience, preferably in a nonprofit agency working with people with disabilities or related services and significant experience with disability issues.• Self-motivated with good verbal, written, and organizational skills.• Experience working with people with disabilities is strongly desirable

.ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE SKILLS (but not required to be considered for an interview):• Skilled in qualitative data analysis, preferred.• Bilingual in Spanish, preferred.• Knowledge of disability and older adult services and policies, preferred.
