Regional Director – National Center for Montessori in the Public Sector – Washington, DC

The National Center for Montessori in the Public Sector (NCMPS) is a non-profit education start-up focused exclusively on increasing greater access to quality public Montessori schools (district, charter or magnet). The Center’s work includes: implementation assistance to schools and districts; ongoing professional development; conducting research on Montessori in the public sector; developing and distributing assessment tools; development of a talent pipeline; and extensive resource development.

Position: Regional Director

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Regional Director will set and guide strategy for all operations in the Washington, D. C., region. The DC Regional Director will manage all local initiatives, initiate and maintain meaningful relationships with local stakeholders, and represent NCMPS at local events.

Responsibilities

Washington, D. C., Cohort Development—In collaboration with Executive Director and Director of Implementation Assistance, the Regional Director will develop and manage the recruitment, selection, and shepherding of three leadership teams aiming to open new public Montessori school programs in the District of Columbia.
Montessori Teacher Residency—In collaboration with the Director of Research, develop and manage a pilot program of comprehensive talent development focused on fully implemented Montessori in the public sector.
Outreach to local public Montessori Community—Ensure meaningful two-way communication between all D. C. stakeholders (school heads, funders, policymakers, and other partners); manage local deployment of NCMPS professional development activities; and create convening opportunities for the metro DC Montessori community.

Qualifications

Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills
Self-starter, able to work both independently and as a member of a strong and fast moving team; entrepreneurial, enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
Sincere commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups, including staff, board members, volunteers, donors, program participants, and other supporters
Experience in public education
Our ideal candidate will have experience in either a teacher residency program, a public Montessori program, and/or developing teams for innovative schools

Start date: Immediately, flexible for the right person

Salary range: $85,000 – $105,000

Location: Washington, D. C.
