The Wisconsin Philanthropy Network (WPN) is the state’s only organization devoted exclusively to the profession and practice of philanthropy. WPN has emerged as a robust, thriving organization highly regarded by its members as a source of best practice insight in the field of philanthropy. Steady membership and revenue growth, high member retention, solid management and a healthy surplus put WPN in a strong position for the future. WPN is a regional association of funders who support and promote effective philanthropy through membership, professional development and information sharing. Comprised of innovative, dynamic and engaged members, WPN is the premier resource for philanthropy in Wisconsin.

Currently, WPN includes 115 organizational members with trustees, directors, staff and individual donors totaling more than 500 people. Position Description:
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the President and CEO (CEO) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for WPN’s staff (of three), programs, expansion and execution of its mission. The CEO will possess a deep knowledge of the philanthropic field, core programs, operations and business plans.

The ideal candidate will be action-oriented, entrepreneurial and adaptable. He or she will have an innovative approach to business planning and membership stewardship. In conjunction with the staff and Board, the CEO will be committed to making philanthropic giving as effective and as meaningful as possible.

The CEO will be thoroughly committed to WPN’s mission and be its chief representative in the philanthropic and greater community, utilizing proven leadership, coaching and relationship management skills.
Leadership & Management Responsibilities:

· Ensure ongoing operational management of local programmatic excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, fundraising, communications and systems; recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve strategic goals;
· Oversee the active engagement of WPN’s members, Board members, volunteer committees, partnering organizations and funders;
· Develop, maintain and support a strong Board of Directors;
· Lead, coach, develop and retain WPN’s high-performance team;
· Ensure WPN’s strategic vision by regularly evaluating program, services and business plan components to measure successes that can be effectively communicated to the Board, membership and other constituents.

Membership and Development Responsibilities:

· Lead revenue generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations and regional growth;
· Design expansion and complete the strategic business planning process for program and service expansion into new markets;
· Use external presence and relationships to garner new opportunities, establish relationships with potential members, funders and political and community leaders throughout Wisconsin in support of philanthropy;
· Ensure continuous development and refinement of all aspects of communications, from web presence to external relations, with the goal of leveraging WPN’s brand;
· Serve as a statewide presence that publishes and communicates program results with an emphasis on the successes as a model for regional replication.

Minimum Qualifications:
Concrete demonstrable experience and other qualifications include:
Ø Bachelor’s degree required, with at least five years of senior management experience; track record of effectively leading and regionally scaling a performance and outcomes-based organization and staff; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth;
Ø Masters or advanced degree or equivalent preferred;
Ø Experience leading quality programs with corresponding data-driven program evaluation;
Ø Demonstrated experience in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives and manage a budget;
Ø Past success working with a board of directors with the ability to cultivate board member relationships;
Ø Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and constituencies;
Ø Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills;
Ø Work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people;
Ø Exude passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, and self-confidence.
