Mobilization Manager – The Black AIDS Institute – Los Angeles, CA

Overview

The Black AIDS Institute seeks an innovative and well-versed candidate to serve as Mobilization Manager. The Mobilization Manager is an essential part of the Black AIDS Institute’s Programs team and is responsible for developing, planning and implementing all mobilization programming, including, but not limited to: Greater Than AIDS campaign; Community Engagement Planning; Capacity Building Assistance; Health Department Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement and Black Treatment Advocates Network.

The Mobilization Manager will also be responsible for providing content expertise, program planning and implementation for Black Gay communities; coordinating and supporting HIV/AIDS programming; providing technical assistance to external partners (i.e., health departments, community based organizations, AIDS service organizations) as it relates to HIV community planning, HIV testing, condom distribution, prevention with High Risk Negatives and PLWHA; providing specific leadership and project management for assigned mobilization activities and programs; and other duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationship: Director of Programs

Supervisory Relationship: Mobilization Coordinators and Interns

Supervision/Training:

Manages Mobilization Department; Direct supervision of 3-4 Mobilization Coordinators and 1-2 interns
Regular supervisory meetings with the Director of Programs
Daily maintenance of a departmental work plan which details project goals and outcomes
Participating in agency training initiatives
Maintain an ongoing professional development plan

Professional Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Public Health or related field preferred, or Bachelor’s degree plus two years of relevant employment involving Health Disparities, LGBTQ, HIV/AIDS-related community issues or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Demonstrated competency of high-level HIV knowledge
Management experience is a must
High level proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel)
Web navigation and basic website development skills
Expert oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Expert public speaking and presentation skills
Experience planning and implementing health-based theory community and structural interventions
Project planning; meeting facilitation and consensus building
Program evaluation and outcome skills
Curriculum development; experience in conducting literature reviews and web-based research; experience in developing and delivering content for adult-learners
Expert understanding of the structural and cultural issues related to HIV/AIDS prevention among African Americans, women, and MSM; demonstrated experience working with Black gay men
Ability to exercise discretion and tact in all interpersonal contacts and maintain confidentiality at all times
Display an ability to manage multiple tasks using independent judgment and discretion; ability to work independently and accurately in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment; ability to work under pressure while exercising discretionary judgment and making decisions when necessary with minimal direct supervision
Must be able to travel extensively and work remotely without supervisory accompaniment
