Guest Services Associate – San Diego – HI USA

Position Purpose
Guest Services Asssociates set the tone for our hostel stay experience. Team members will immediately
make guests feel welcome, complete duties quickly and accurately, engage with guests and volunteers to
promote hostel activities, and be able to perform in a calm and collected manner when faced with
challenging situations. The right candidate for this position will be articulate, affable, courteous and
assertive. Customer service experience, as well as experience conducting cash and credit card
transactions, is required for this position.
Compensation: $10.25
Hours: Part time 18-30 hours per week w/the potential for more. MUST be able to work nights and
weekends.

Essential Functions
● Checking in and checking out guests.
● Collecting payments.
● Reconciling a daily cash drawer and inventory.
● Proficiently operating our property management system, roomMaster.
● Processing reservations: phone, email, walk-in, and internet.
● Responding to and resolving guest inquiries and issues.
● Completing assigned daily task checklists.
● Handling and storing guest luggage.
● Collecting guests comments and feedback in a gracious manner.
● Promoting hostel activities, programs, and events.
● Completing laundry and other operational tasks.
● Supportive operational functions as determined by supervisors.
● Promoting the City of San Diego and what it has to offer per guest needs.

Specific Job Knowledge/Qualifications
Qualified Candidates will possess a combination of the following experience, skills and education.
● GED or equivalent work related experience.
● Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
● Experience in a customer service related field.
● Experience with MS-Office Suite and Google Drive.
● Experience running and reconciling a cash drawer.
● The ability to speak multiple languages is a plus.
● Experience working in a fast paced environment.
● Experience communicating with people from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.

Job Conditions and Physical Requirements
● Ability to stand for extended periods of time
● Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
● Ability to climb small ladders and step stools to work with overhead equipment, e.g. top bunks,
dryers, kitchen cabinets.
● Ability to push and pull laundry and housekeeping carts.
● Ability to maintain an appropriate appearance as defined by management.
● Ability to fold laundry (e.g., bend arms, kneel, stoop, crouch, use hand-eye coordination).
