Fall Business Development Internship – Made In A Free World Inc – San Francisco, CA

Made In A Free World (MIAFW) is an anti-slavery organization based in San Francisco, California. We have been recognized as a visionary leader for our work, including the “rockumentary” film, CALL+RESPONSE, and the multiple-award-winning website, Slavery Footprint (www.slaveryfootprint.org). Through innovative use of new media, we have educated and engaged over 1.7 million people about modern-day slavery. Since our establishment we have partnered up with the U.S. Department of State, MTV, and Google, among others; and our work has been featured on various media outlet, including CNN, The New York Times, and TIME.

One (1) position available for Fall 2015.

We are seeking one fall business development intern who has excellent writing skills to assist Made In A Free World with a variety of interesting projects that span business strategy, marketing, and nonprofit fundraising.

Are you interested in gaining practical experience in the tech/business/nonprofit sector? Passionate about being part of the movement to end modern-day slavery? If so, we want you!

Responsibilities for this position include:

• Research grants and foundations that fund our line of work and write grant proposals and reports
• Implement donor database and manage donor acknowledgement process
• Research and propose ways to cultivate our current individual donors and attract new individual donors
• Conduct market research of technology sector
• Deep dive into corporate social responsibility (CSR) and market a technology tool that helps them meet their goals

Background and skills required for this position:

• Excellent writing skills (writing sample required)
• Ability to use various databases and online search tools to conduct research independently
• Excellent organizational skills
• Demonstrated flexibility and initiative
• Familiarity with Salesforce, MailChimp, and Photoshop is a plus

This position requires that the intern work at our office in San Francisco for 16-24 hours per week for a minimum of 12 weeks during normal business hours. Our office is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Exact schedule is negotiable.

The intern may start as early as August 20 and as late as September 30.
