Director of Resource Development – Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley – Sonoma, CA

The Director of Resource Development will be responsible for working with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in implementing the Resource Development strategy for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley. Reporting to the CEO, the Director of Resource Development will be responsible for working in concert with the CEO, the Resource Development committee, and the Marketing Committee to achieve the organization’s fundraising goals. This includes strategic and long term cultivation of new supporters.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Resource Development

Work with the CEO and the Resource Development Committee to lead and manage the organization’s overall Resource Development efforts, including implementation of the Annual Development Plan, and strategies to meet aggressive fundraising goals.
Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations.
Develop and grow a comprehensive planned-giving program.
Write grant proposals in cooperation with the CEO and contracted Grant Writer. Report to corporate, foundation, and government funders.
Develop and grow the individual donor base; manage and execute annual giving campaign.
Assist CEO with Resource Development reports to the Board and other agencies.
Attend Board meetings.
Train and lead staff and volunteers as needed to support Fundraising efforts.
Work in cooperation with non-profit agencies to explore fundraising opportunities.
Work with the Marketing Manager to develop strategies designed to build awareness, appreciation, and support for Club programs, services and activities. Primary objectives include: developing strategies to increase participation by youth in the community; raising awareness of The Club’s values to the community; and raising funds.
Manage the performance of the Event and Administration Coordinator, and Special Events Coordinator in achieving goals.
Work closely with the leadership team to ensure that all Resource Development efforts are synchronized with Marketing, Public Relations, and Programs.
Supervise and evaluate the job performance of the Event and Administration Coordinator and Special Events Coordinator.
Create office systems to support all Resource Development projects.
Supervise donor and gift record-keeping. Ensures accuracy of database, records, files, and gift processing.
Coordinate Resource Development research activities.
Manages the pledge reminder and acknowledgement programs.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Have 3+ years of progressively responsible and well-rounded experience in fundraising for a not-for-profit organization.
Have experience in implementation of a comprehensive development plan.
Considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of non-profit organizations.
Have demonstrated the ability to exceed fundraising goals.
Proven leadership and partnership-building capabilities.
Have the ability to interact with individuals of high net worth and the giving public with tact, diplomacy, and poise.
Have demonstrated management skills in working with Board and Staff.
High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative.
Excellent verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and thorough understanding of strategic development.
Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate, and manage new donors.
Thorough understanding of all components of a diversified funding base
Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Donor Perfect or comparable donor database.
Ability to work as a leader and as part of a team.
Ability to provide clean drug test.
Ability to pass a DOJ fingerprint clearance.
Ability to be CPR and First Aid certified.

RECOMMENDED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.

Knowledge of: the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures and of the principles and practices of non-profit organizations, youth development services
