Organization Summary
The Colorado Juvenile Defender Center (CJDC) is a state wide nonprofit organization based in Denver dedicated to excellence in juvenile defense and advocacy, and justice for all children and youth in Colorado. CJDC’s youth justice strategy integrates three programs: (1) a Juvenile Defender Center providing training and supports for practicing attorneys; (2) a Juvenile Policy Center achieving systemic reform through policy advocacy, non-partisan research and education, and coalition building; and (3) a Juvenile Resource Center offering direct legal services for youth in expungement, de-registration, and school discipline matters, in addition to serving as a clearinghouse for parents, press, organizations, and policy makers. Position Summary
Under the leadership of CJDC’s Executive Director, the Development Officer will be responsible for the oversight of fundraising initiatives. The successful candidate will manage existing funding relationships and create new opportunities, working with the Executive Director and board to maximize fundraising productivity and develop working relationships with foundations, corporations, law firms, and key donors. Specific Responsibilities Include:

Research grant opportunities and corporate sponsorships;
Build relationships with foundations, corporations, and law firms;
Build relationships with individual donors;
Draft grant applications and grant reports;
Maintain and expand foundation, corporate and individual donor databases;
Manage attorney membership program;
Plan, market, and execute fundraising events;
Create donor and general information kits for events and meetings;
Develop social media and online giving opportunities;
Demonstrate commitment, passion, and enthusiasm for CJDC’s mission and vision.

Qualifications:
Demonstrated commitment, passion, and enthusiasm for CJDC’s mission and vision;
Development and fundraising experience;
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks;
Strong office administration and project management skills;
Demonstrated success at networking and building relationships;
Detail oriented with demonstrated organization and time management skills
Skilled writer;
Skilled oral communicator;
Team player;
Understanding of the non-profit sector;
Commitment to fundraising, and pursuing diverse and sustainable revenue streams;
Access to reliable transportation and ability to travel locally;
Experience managing events preferred;
Two years development and fundraising experience preferred.
