Responsible for raising significant funds through activities including:
Events Coordination including solicitation of corporate sponsorships and advertising, providing a high level of support for volunteer planning committees, managing and recording all the details of a Gala with dinner and auction, 4-6 community based/restaurant/run type events and all the details of promotion and marketing the events.
Fund Raising letters and appeals: Will coordinate 3-4 appeals annually. Will also write and submit targeted letters and requests.
Donor cultivation including preparing for meetings with corporate and individual donors, maintaining high touch communication and follow up with donors and engaging the board in donor outreach.
Other Writing: Will work on writing materials for web site, newsletters, annual reports, and press releases as needed.
Collaborate with Executive Director, fund raising team, shelter staff and board on other fund raising activities and materials.
Must have exceptional people skills including relationship building and committee coordination. Must have a high level of attention to detail and document work and schedule to acheive timely objectives related to fund raising. Must have strong writing skills. Should have some knowledge of budgets and be able to achieve financial goals. Should have strong communication skills and be organized and able to multi-task. Knowledge and use of social media and email communications a plus. Knowledge of donor data management systems a plus.
Ideal candidate will have a bachelors degree in communications or social services with at least 5 years of experience.
Position resides within a busy emergency shelter which houses nearly 400 individuals, family and children who are homeless annually. The shelter also serves those listing in poverty or who are on the streets for a total of almost 1500 with a need each year.
