Development and Communications Coordinator – The Healing Center Roosevelt Seattle

Opportunity: The Healing Center is seeking a full-time Development and Communications Coordinatorto strengthen the organization’s fundraising capacity.
This is a chance to join a small, committed team and to make a real difference as a key member of The Healing Center staff. You will support the Executive Director, who is responsible for leading most major donor cultivation and stewardship, and take the lead in event management and execution.
Mission and Program Description: The Healing Center offers a safe, loving place that honors grief, helping people to move through it and heal. We serve adults, children, and young adults who have experienced the premature death of a spouse or partner, parent, or sibling. Our purpose is to provide support and guidance on the grieving and healing process in a community setting. We offer an environment for individuals to choose their grieving process in a supportive community, including deciding when to come, how to grieve, and how long/often they decide to receive services. The Healing Center provides peer support groups for children ages 4 – 17, young adults ages 18 – 35, adults in groups divided by time since loss, and older adults.

Development and Communications Coordinator Job Description

Responsibilities
Event Coordination and Communication
• Assume primary responsibility for our two major events – the Fall Auction and the March Luncheon, GiveBig and our Holiday annual campaign.
• Assist the Executive Director with communications plans and follow up for each segment of our donors
• Write and send thank you letters, donor updates and reports
• Recruit and Coordinate Event Volunteers
Database Management
• Assume primary responsibility for using Salesforce to keep donor records fully up to date
• Prepare reports for the Executive Director and Board
• Become fluent with the Salesforce Moves Management process to assist the Executive Director in tracking donor contributions and following up with donors.
Marketing and Social Media
• Develop content for our website and social media channels that supports The Healing Center’s outreach and marketing efforts
• Work with Program staff to capture the multiple effects of the program through stories, brief videos and social media posts
• Develop and broadcast content in support of events and program milestones
• Edit and post content for our monthly eNewsletter
General Duties
• Assist Program Coordinator to answer calls and manage efficient upkeep of the office and center

Qualifications, Ideal Skills and Experience
Minimum qualifications include: BA/BS in appropriate field; 1 – 3 years of experience working in development, marketing and communications
• Commitment to our mission to serve grieving adults, children and families
• Welcome communications with all donors, clients and visitors
• Understanding of nonprofit fundraising best practices and processes
• Proficient use of Microsoft Suite
• Familiarity with Constant Contact and Salesforce
• Ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects with aplomb and good humor
