Communications Director – Washington – The Coalition to Transform Advanced Care

Overview:
The Director of Communications sets and implements the strategy for all communications to consistently articulate C-TAC’s mission – that all those with advanced illness will receive comprehensive, high-quality, person- and family-centered care that is consistent with their goals and values and honors their dignity.

The Director of Communications also works to ensure that C-TAC is viewed as the primary source, disseminator, and conduit of information within this diverse member network and among target audiences. The Director reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the leadership team as the communications partner on all strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and evaluate the annual communications plan
Lead the generation of online content that engages audience segments and results in measurable action.
Put communications vehicles in place to create momentum and awareness as well as to test the effectiveness of communications activities
Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including newsletters, blog posts, National Summit materials, the Member Alert, brochures, and C-TAC’s website
Coordinate webpage maintenance—ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) is posted regularly
Track and measure the level of engagement within the network over time
Play a key role in the C-TAC National Summit
Coordinate and organize meetings that engage the network’s audiences
Manage all media contacts

Qualifications
At least five years of relevant communications experience: media relations, website content, newsletters, and donor communications. The ability to transform knowledge into compelling messages for the right audiences through the best channels.

Specific requirements include:
Experience in developing and implementing communications strategies, including campaign experience
Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills
A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently
High energy, maturity and leadership in team and collaborative settings (board members, staff, volunteers, coalition partners and others)
Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives
