Policy / Research Intern – Planned Parenthood of New York City

POSITION TITLE: Policy & Research Intern

REPORTS TO: Policy and Research Associate,

Director of Government Relations

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Policy & Research Intern supports the Public Affairs Department regarding New York City and state legislation and issue-based research. The Policy and Research Intern will play a central role in expanding the justice work of PPNYC’s Public Affairs Department by researching current issues of sexual and reproductive health equity, with special attention to their impact on PPNYC services. This internship will support and assist our legislative, policy advocacy and community and coalition building work.

Duties:

Research policy issues relevant to PPNYC’s work and present legislative recommendations.

Research citywide data for its impact on patients of PPNYC and potential legislative advocacy opportunities.

Assist in updating and management of elected official database.

Track elected officials’ voting records and statements.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements: Strong commitment to reproductive health, rights, and justice; interest in research and legislation, skilled at multi-tasking and prioritizing; strong logistics coordination skills; excellent research and computer skills; experience using Excel a plus.

Hours: 12-15/week
