Director of Government Relations – Washington Association of Community & Migrant Health Centers – Olympia, WA

As a member of WACMHC’s Leadership team, this position works collaboratively on strategic planning, Board of Director operations, and management issues as they arise. Fundamental duties include identifying resources and partner organizations to meet the Association’s objectives while working with the WACMHC Board of Directors and Joint Legislative Committee to prioritize advocacy issues, implement key strategies and educate both legislators and stakeholders. Additionally, this position supervises the data and information technology staff along with WACMHC communications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Successfully position WACMHC and its FQHC membership to maximize advantages at state-level legislative advocacy, policy development and implementation of policy through rule making;
Manage government relations and policy development in support of CEO;
Develop Board member feedback into state and federal policy, regulation and funding opportunities;
Effectively represent WACMHC through direct advocacy and participation on coalitions (such as the Washington State Health Care Reform implementation of Medicaid Expansion, Exchange, Global Medicaid Waiver, etc.);
Represent WACMHC and FQHCs with state agencies and elected officials in policy development and state agency policy implementation;
Create network of key state partners including fostering effective relationships with state Congressional delegation policy staff in collaboration with the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC);
Advocate at the federal level for NACHC national policy agenda;
Effectively manage joint efforts of the Community Health Network of Washington (CHNW) and WACMHC under the Joint Legislative Committee (JLC);
Collaborate with CHNW policy staff in preparation for JLC retreat, Joint Legislative Days, and legislative webinars throughout the year;
Translate National Policy Agenda to local and state level call to action(s);
Manage annual Congressional and State Legislative Visit process(es);
Analyze and summarize policy and program implementation documents and manage WACMHC data analysis and presentation(s).
