Job description
POSITION PURPOSE
The OEC Camp Director and Program Manager will provide leadership and coordinate the management of the Outdoor Education Center. The incumbent is responsible for operational management, program development and is involved in marketing and fundraising. He/she will assure quality non-cognitive skill development through experiential education programming is offered at the OEC.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
Program Development
Develop and direct the Outdoor Education Center to ensure the program objectives are congruent with the organizational mission, vision and goals, and that program effort is evaluated in a sufficient manner.
Facilitate inclusive planning processes that incorporate the perspectives of the families, community, client group, volunteers, and staff.
Participate in relevant community meetings, conferences and peer review groups to improve the safety and opportunities for our participants.
Review current literature on outdoor/adventure challenge; non-cognitive skill developments, experiential education models to ensure programs operate with “best practices”.
Identify gaps in program services and recommend methods/plans to increase the service delivery.
Recommend program changes to the Director of Programs in response to identified needs consistent with program’s strategic objectives and the OEC’s mission.

Supervision
Supervise the OEC staff and contractors to ensure continuity of services and adherence to applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
Develop and monitor annual goals and expectations to ensure staff is in alignment with the mission and vision.
Conduct regular supervision sessions and management team meetings to ensure continuity of services.
Supervise, direct, coordinate, and monitor programs managed by contractual staff to ensure work outlined in the scope of service is being provided.
Identify staff strengths and deficiencies and assists with development of a plan with employee to improve deficiencies when they exist.
Conduct staff performance evaluations in accordance with FLOC procedures to ensure suitability of continued employment and to reward performance as indicated in the evaluation process.

Fiscal Management
In collaboration with the Director of Finance and Operations and OEC Staff, develop a reasonable operating budget with measurable goals and objectives to ensure program fiscal viability.
Develop plan for monitoring program assets, fixtures and equipment (including program vehicle) to ensure an appropriate outdoor environment and to minimize repair/replacement costs.

Marketing
In collaboration with the Director of Development, clearly and consistently articulate OEC’s mission and vision to the community and national publications via press releases, PSA’s, speaking engagements and other innovative and creative media vehicles to assist in raising funds for program operations.
Plan and implement appropriate marketing strategies for OEC to reach targeted market; generate additional funding streams and consequently increase service capacity.
Negotiate a variety of contracts necessary to operate the program.
In consultation with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors, formulate a strategic plan for promoting OEC’s goals and funding needs through local, regional and national media campaigns.
Assist development in writing, developing and publishing, articles, newsletters, editorials and other communications that clearly and accurately reflect and demonstrates OEC’s ability to achieve desired results.

Facility/Land Management
Oversee the land, facility and equipment management of the OEC.
Direct the use of activity space, facilities and equipment to ensure utilization of all appropriate resources.
Coordinate organizational relationships with the Rolling Ridge Foundation.

Documentation
Develop and implement a quality assurance program to ensure the actualization and implementation of “best practice” adventure education and experiential models.
Periodically review all program records and files and documentation for compliance with contracts and to ensure client and/or program goals are met.
Regularly observe staff and contractors in the performance of duties to ensure appropriate safety procedures are observed and procedures are adhered to.
Develop and implement a mechanism for weekly/monthly reporting of service delivery and client activity, as it relates to the successes and challenges of day-to-day program operations.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree in related field and 5 years of post college field experience including 2 years of management and administration experience. Preferred: Wilderness First Responders Certification, Emergency Medical Technician, Ropes Course Management, American Canoe Association Instructor. Required First Aid and CPR.

EXPERIENCE
Experience in Program Management, Adventure Therapy, Experience-based Training and Development, Risk Management and family systems, strength-based and prevention theories. Excellent problem solving, analytical, organizational and communication skills required. Ability to prioritize works according to organizational demands and established timeframes. Advanced outdoor leadership and technical skills in climbing, camping, water sports, high rope courses, and caving.
