Evaluations / Volunteer Officer – Community Impact at Columbia University – New York, NY

Reporting to the Director of Community Impact (CI), the Evaluations/Volunteer Officer has responsibility for the continued development and oversight of the evaluation process for CI. The Evaluation Officer position will work with fellow staff members and chart the outcomes of 25 CI projects coordinated by 900 CU student volunteers which serve 8,000 community residents. The Evaluation Officer will also have oversight for the volunteer registration database.

Duties include: A. Coordinate Evaluation System – Responsible for creating, implementing, and maintaining a system/process for evaluating CI projects. Identifies and develops: data collection methodology; evaluation tools; and outcome measures. – Evaluates outcomes and evaluations for proposals, reports, etc. – Makes recommendations for improvements and changes as needed.

B. Coordinate Volunteer Registration System – Responsible for maintaining a system/process for registration of CI volunteers and student workers. – Organizes and oversees the volunteer registration process throughout the year.

C. Shares data with CI stake holders. Collaborates with CI committees, community members/partners, and others to create and share results of CI’s evaluation system.

D. Other projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum two years’ experience with program evaluations and outcomes process required, including work with data, use of Excel, and experience and knowledge administering surveys. Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant Experience working with volunteers and community organizations required, including work with non-profit organizations. Strong oral, written, and general communication skills required. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and work autonomously under pressure of deadline required. Must be proficient in word processing and Microsoft Office programs. Preferred Qualifications Experience in for-profit organizations and experience developing educational program materials and fundraising a plus.
