Mission Neighborhood Centers is seeking a full-time Children’s Services Coordinator will work with the Precita Center Director to provide out of school services to at risk youth. The Children’s Services Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and implementation of an after school and summer program for youth between the ages of 5 to 17 years old. The Coordinator must conduct outreach and recruit participants for youth programs at various sites such as schools, other CBO’s, resource fairs, etc.

Primary Duties

Must plan, coordinate, implement, oversee and evaluate all aspects of the on site after school and summer program for youth, and remain in compliance with contract regulations
Recruit, provide orientations, supervise, evaluate and provide leadership development to staff, interns, youth workers and volunteers involved in the after school and summer program
Develop outreach plan and provide presentations to recruit and retain program participants
Conduct intake, registration and orientation process for new participants and their caregivers
Recruit service providers to implement tutoring and enrichment activities on site
Coordinate, supervise, implement and develop curriculum for on-site daily activities: tutoring, arts & crafts, sports, talking circles, health education, cooking class, STEM programming, and topics related to youth development and leadership
Responsible for the procurement, maintenance and inventory all needed program supplies
Plan and implement monthly career mentoring, cultural enrichment and recreational field trips
Maintain attendance and client records both in files and in Contract Management System (CMS)
Produce quarterly parent newsletter
Plan, coordinate, and implement quarterly parent meetings/information sessions.
Act as liaison with school, community, public agencies and parents/guardians of participants
Participate in staff meetings, facilitate weekly team meetings, attend all relevant and program related trainings, and DCYF or Funder related meetings
Collaborate in the planning and production of community events including taking lead in specific productions and events related to the center or the program
Represent Precita Center and MNC at community forums, meetings, and events including but not limited to: respective school collaborative meetings, Neighborhood Association meetings, open house at school sites, parent/teacher conferences, etc.
Make referrals to other youth services and other community resources
Prepare and submit accurate reports as required by program, including monthly narrative report and attendance to DCYF, MNC monthly master list, and the collection and reporting of evaluation data
Knowledge and adherence to MNC’s policies, procedures, objectives, and quality assurance.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) or successfully working towards a BA/BS with a current transcript on file in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology or related field
5+ years work experience with high risk youth ages 5 to 17

Bilingual in Spanish/English with the ability to write, read and comprehend simple correspondence, instructions and memos and to present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients and other employees of the organization both in English and Spanish
Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills – written and verbal (excellent spelling and grammar) to individuals and groups
Proven ability to manage priorities and workflow, set goals and objectives, maintain proper records, schedule others and develops realistic action plans
Experienced at developing and supporting a culture of teamwork
Personality: dependable, dedicated, takes initiative, detail oriented, takes pride in producing quality work, able to work independently

Strong computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

Basic mathematic skills and ability to calculate figures, percentages, fractions, decimals, rate and ratios, draw and interpret bar graphs and produce mathematical reports

Supports the mission, vision and values of Mission Neighborhood Center
CPR First Aid Training Certificate or the ability to take and pass a certification course upon hire
Current CA Drivers License, current auto insurance, a clean driving record, and insurable under the organization’s minimum criteria for driving company vehicles and program participants
Background Check clearance upon hire – FBI/DOJ Fingerprint, Child Abuse Index, Physical Exam, TB Test and pass the Juvenile Probation Clearance requirements.

Benefits

This position is full-time Monday through Friday typically 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and occasional weekend, early morning or later evening hours may be required with a salary of $43,888 plus an excellent benefit package, which includes:
