Chief Operating Officer – New York – Culture For One

Culture For One (CFO) seeks a talented, hard working, organized, and detail-oriented professional for a senior leadership position in its New York City office. Minimum 10 years work experience. Must have at least 2 years of grant writing experience and have lead a minimum of 2 fundraising events.

The COO/O&DD will work in partnership with the Executive Director to run the daily operations of the organization, and create and implement a sustainable business approach to support CFO’s programs. Under general supervision, with latitude for independent initiative, the COO/O&DD will assist the ED with planning and implementation of development efforts and operations. He/she will have considerable administrative, operations, and fundraising responsibility, and will engage donors, prospects, and partners to increase the impact of CFO’s work with NYC youth in foster care; providing arts access and opportunities to help improve outcomes for young people after they leave the foster care system.

CFO is undergoing a strategic growth trajectory and there are opportunities for the successful candidate to grow with the organization in the coming years.

Flexible work schedule with occasional early evenings and weekend program activities.

Principal Duties:
Operations, Communications & Fundraising
Research foundations and compile grant proposals
Serve as liaison to and produce (with associate support) print and electronic communications with donors, prospects, and partners
Collaborate to create development strategy and manage execution of fundraising events, campaigns, and programs
Hire/supervise development & operations staff, interns
Oversee CFO Programs, Program Director, and new activities
Explore programmatic initiatives with Program Director
Supervise administrative and compliance functions
Create and manage annual budgets and forecasts in collaboration with ED
Evaluate & adapt operating systems & practices to create greater efficiency
Analyze, assess, and report on outcomes

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum 10 years work experience and minimum 3 years nonprofit or public service organization experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, QuickBooks, and database management systems

Strong organizational, leadership, organizing, and analytical skills
Business acumen and supervisory experience
Self-motivated, objective driven, and solution-oriented approach
Proven track record initiating and successfully leading groups/projects
Sets extremely high standards for self and colleagues
Ability to problem-solve, take initiative, manage multiple priorities, and exercise good judgment under pressure
Ability to work both collaboratively and independently
Experience with underserved youth and/or arts programs is a plus

Compensation & Vacation:
Commensurate with experience and qualifications

The position includes 3 weeks of vacation annually
