The Community Learning Center at Jane Addams Middle School is seeking a reliable afterschool club instructors and tutors. Program hours are Monday-Friday from 2:00 PM-4:30 PM. Afterschool programs at Jane Addams Middle School have an emphasis on exploring the global community and community connection. CLC Instructors provide homework help and tutoring to middle school student and facilitate afterschool enrichment and recreation activities. An ideal candidate for this position is highly adaptable in new situations and has recent experience working with youth 11- 13 years of age. Multi lingual, bilingual applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.

Rate of pay is $12.00- $14.00 per hour for general positions

$17.00 per hour for specialty roles

General Responsibilities:

Develop meaningful connections with students and provide academic support
Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures.
Maintains ordered arrangement, appearance, decor, cleanliness, and learning environment of program site.
Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.

Qualifications:

18 years of age or older
Experience working with Teens, middle school students preferred
Prefer knowledge of and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
Knowledge of culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate practices
Quality execution of teambuilding activities and possess high quality facilitation skills
Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
