Theatricum Botanicum is Los Angeles’ premier outdoor repertory theatre with a five-play season of professional Equity theatre. Additional programming includes camp and seminar performances, improv comedy, concerts and fundraisers.

Reports To: Managing Director

Overall Objective: To operate a clean, safe, organized and profitable refreshment stand, while providing excellent customer service, and a positive work environment for our patrons and volunteers.

Job Summary: Seasonal concession staff is responsible for the daily duties of the concession stand (Hamlet Hut) including but not limited to: customer service, cash handling, inventory control, merchandise and supply restocking and facility upkeep.

Season Information: this position serves the TB repertory season performances and collateral events, running roughly May through October. Candidates for this position will be asked to commit to Theatricum’s full season of events.

Responsibilities & Duties:

• Oversees operation of concession stand and gift shop (Hamlet Hut).

• Maintains complete and accurate inventories.

• Supervises and assists in setup and closing of concession booth and gift shop.

• Acquisition of all inventory items and setting of prices.

• Provides customer service to TB theatre patrons for all performances.

• Oversees all cleanliness and sanitation of stand.

• Handles all concession booth and merchandise sales.

• Manages cash and payments for concession booth and gift shop; prepares sales/inventory reports as directed.

• Trains and supervises all concession stand and gift shop volunteers.

• Provides help and guidance when needed.

• Effective communicator to patrons, volunteers and management.

• Establishes system for prompt sales during intermission, to serve the most people as quickly as possible.

• Supervises and directs customer service during performances and maintains positive theatre patron experience.

• Supervises all cleanup and proper closing of the concession stand.

Qualifications: The perfect candidate possess a leadership quality and has a pleasant personality and appearance,

He/she is reliable, self-sufficient, organized, able to work at a fast pace and multi-task. He/she must be a quick thinker with the ability to problem solve. It is a creative person who loves food services and is excited about the potential for growth; all to make the experience for the theatre patron unique, peaceful, inspiring and welcoming.

Theatre experience is a plus.
