Job Overview:

Love146 seeks an energetic and detail-oriented Programs and Research Support Intern to join the Programs team. This intern will report to the Internship & Volunteer Coordinator and the Executive Director of Programs.

This unpaid position will provide practical, hands-on academic research experience pertaining to child trafficking and exploitation. The intern will be responsible for research tasks, including background studies, needs assessments, surveys, citations, and quantitative and qualitative data analyses. Prior research experience is necessary.

In addition to the research support role, the intern will offer planning and administrative assistance to the Programs team for training facilitations of Love146’s prevention education curriculum, Not a #Number. The intern will be responsible for preparation leading up to the training, including corresponding with attending agencies and stakeholders, management of paperwork and facilitation agreements, and organizing and quantifying training feedback. Lastly, the intern will be responsible for data entry of Not a #Number’s pre- and post-test questionnaires, which offer effective quantitative research opportunities for the continued development of Love146’s prevention education curriculum.

This position requires a detail-oriented, quick learner with good computer skills, who has a desire to work with little supervision as a team member. This is an excellent opportunity for rising college seniors or college graduates who have a passion to raise awareness about child trafficking.

In addition to the duties required, Love146 interns will have opportunities to participate in various short seminars on the operations and management of a non-profit and community engagement projects. These comprehensive features of the Internship Program are designed to help students develop versatile skills and further education on the issue of child trafficking and exploitation.

All internships are unpaid; however, Love146 will work with academic institutions to provide academic credit, as needed.

This internship will tentatively begin September 7th, 2015 and conclude November 25th, 2015. It is based in New Haven, Connecticut, and requires 12-15 hours weekly. Interns should have their own laptop.

Job Responsibilities:

Compile background and literature reviews.
Contribute to the creation of surveys and needs assessments.
Vet through previous programs’ reports and systemize and update effective recording methods.
Prepare and organize training paperwork and facilitation forms for Not a #Number’s training facilitations.
Communicate with agencies and stakeholders in regards to required documentation and forms leading to training facilitation.
Manage daily logistics during regional training facilitations.
Organize pre- and post-test data for quantitative analysis.
Assist in daily administrative duties of the Programs team.

Qualifications:

Administrative experience required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Is comfortable with telephone communication.
Interest in social justice and human rights.
Strong level of personal initiative and organization.
Ability to work under pressure within event deadlines and time constraints.
Ability to take initiative, to set priorities, to work independently, and to manage multiple tasks.
Seasoned experience with the Internet as a research tool; experience with online academic libraries and databases preferred.
Ability and willingness to adapt to a variety of duties and priorities.
Great skills in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Sense of humor.
No specific area of college study required; however, persons with, or seeking, degrees in Human Resources, International Relations, International Development, or Social Sciences are encouraged to apply.
A sharp eye for detail and grammar, and has the ability to copy edit for technical errors and general coherency.
    A developed worldview, capable of adapting quickly to the culture inside of Love146.
