TITLE: Program Coordinator II – Employment & Training Services

DEPARTMENT: Employment and Citizenship

SUPERVISOR: Employment and Citizenship Director

PURPOSE: Coordinates day-to-day operations for the Ready to Work Program within Employment and Training Services. Supervises employment case managers. Ensures program meets all contract milestones and deliverables.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Implements the core education and employment activities for the Ready to Work program. Plans, organizes, coordinates and executes the day-to-day operations. Ensures compliance with program and contractual requirements and standards, and achievement of performance goals and objectives. Oversees data and paperwork, and ensures accuracy and timely submission of required reports and invoices.

Provides services to meet contract goals, including marketing, recruitment, orientation, intake, and client retention.

Plans, supervises, and directs work assignments for bilingual, culturally competent direct-service staff: monitors performance of assigned staff and conducts timely performance reviews; approves salary increases per agency budget and policies. Takes formal, corrective action to ensure high quality consumer services, including input to dismiss employee; resolves complaints and grievances lodged by clients.
Manages communication across program partners, including HomeSight, the City of Seattle, community colleges, associate community-based organizations, Seattle Housing Authority, Literacy Works International, Literacy Source, and ACRS’ Director of Employment and Citizenship.
Works with outside evaluator as needed; ensures that client data is accurate and submitted on time.

Participates in all ACRS and program meetings. Participates in all program-related training, committees, meetings, community meetings, resource and community events.

Plans and coordinates logistics for program classes, including establishing class schedule with colleges, reserving classroom space, scheduling volunteers, and developing and monitoring attendance tracking systems.

Other job-related duties as assigned by management, including client case management as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Regularly required to walk; use hands and fingers to feel, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Some work will be performed offsite during outside meetings with community colleges, community-based organizations, and employers. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s degree in social work plus two years providing direct human services and one year of supervisory experience;

Or

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field plus four years of providing direct human services and one year of supervisory experience.

At least one year of supervisory experience.

Knowledge of principles of English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction and familiarity with local labor market.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community leaders, community-based organizations, employers, and other organizations. Requires interaction with clients, social service staff, volunteers, and agencies as well as government and community personnel. Proven ability to communicate effectively, in writing and verbally, and with limited English speaking clients.

Ability to provide effective, equitable, understandable and respectful quality services that are responsive to diverse cultural beliefs and practices.

Ability to work as a team member with ACRS staff and volunteers, exercise judgment and organize multiple tasks.

Must have reliable transportation to fulfill all job duties. If using personal or agency vehicle, must have valid driver’s license and be insurable under ACRS’ auto policy. If using personal vehicle, must have current auto insurance.

Ability to effectively navigate a personal computer. Competency in use of the Microsoft Office and other relevant software for word processing, calendaring, e-mail, and spreadsheet data entry. Efficiently research and perform various tasks via the internet.
