Human Resources Manager – Museum of Latin American Art (MoLAA) – Long Beach, CA

The HR Manager is responsible for the Museum of Latin American Art’s (MOLAA)
Personnel Department, to include recruitment efforts, employee relations, coordination of employee benefits, policies and procedures, compensation including conducting wage surveys, job evaluations and other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Knowledge /Skills/Experience Required:
• BA/BS in HR Management or comparable years’ experience with HR functions OR minimum of 3+ years in HR background including benefit administration
• Experience in compliance, recruitment and employee relations,
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills required for internal & external interfacing
• Ability to maintain accurate, detailed records & work in strictest confidence
• Excellent organization skills and the ability to multi-task
• Able to perform duties with little or no supervision
• Must be computer literate
• Knowledge of Federal and California Employment Laws

Essential Functions:
Recruiting:
• Responsible for the management and development of a comprehensive recruitment strategy
• Conduct initial contact, phone screen, interview and test applicants for different positions within the Museum
• Contract with various search firm agencies and/or temporary agencies for recruiting efforts and all duties that apply with recruiting
• Manage the advertising process (including writing and placement) of job openings

Benefit Administration:
• Develops and maintains compensation and benefits programs for museum employees
• Administer health insurance, unemployment, workers’ compensation and other related benefits
• Maintain benefit records and prepare documents necessary for implementing benefit coverage
• Maintain payroll records on sick leave, vacation and other leaves

General Administration:
• Institutes and implements a performance evaluation system
• Provides training and development opportunities for staff to enhance and improve their skills
• Provides advice to management on disciplinary matters
• Maintain employee files and records, assure completeness of files
• Conduct orientation sessions for new hires
• Maintain employee policies and procedures handbook
• Manage employee relations and communications.
