BRIC is a multi-disciplinary non-profit dedicated to presenting art and media programs that reflect Brooklyn’s creativity and diversity. BRIC also provides resources to launch, nurture and showcase artists and media makers. All of BRIC’s offerings are free or low cost, to advance access to and understanding of arts and media. BRIC is also the community access television organization for Brooklyn. Our community media programs offer residents free access to media production facilities and low-cost education. Our television network airs community-produced free speech programs and in-house content about and for Brooklyn.

Purpose of Position: The Education Manager, Youth Media is part of BRIC’s 4-person youth education team. The position reports to the Director of Education, and manages a roster of 8 – 12 Teaching Artists. The focus of the position is a media education program within Brooklyn public schools.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Outreach to schools to promote and plan curriculum for school-based media education residencies, working collaboratively with school staff and Teaching Artists.
Manage the selection, placement of Teaching Artists.
Oversee progress and assessment of residencies by visiting schools, communicating with school representatives and Teaching Artists, and collecting curriculum, evaluations, and documentation.
Supervise and evaluate Teaching Artists; including payroll sign-off.
Manage the purchasing, delivery and tracking of supplies and equipment for school residencies.
Assist Teaching Artists in post production of student video to produce final materials; work with marketing and technical staff to format content for distribution.
Organize the recruitment of participants for afterschool residencies.
Plan culminating events at schools.
Serve as Teaching Artist to pilot new material and programs, or substitute.
Prepare program data, financials, written descriptions, photo and/or video documentation for grant applications and program reports.
Assist in developing and presenting professional development sessions for Teaching Artists and classroom teachers;
Assist Director of Education in developing and implementing strategic program direction and initiatives.
Assist Director of Education and collaborate with other BRIC staff to plan and implement other youth initiatives, including BRIC House visits, internship programs, and youth presentations in media, contemporary art and performing arts.

Desired Education/Experience/Skills

Bachelors of Fine Arts or a related field.
Strong skills in video production and post-production editing with iStop Motion and Adobe Premier.
Experience with Adobe After Effects and Photoshop a plus.
At least two years experience designing curriculum and teaching video production, editing and animation.
Strong organizational and managerial skills.
Excellent writing skills.
Excellent communication and people skills.
Flexible team player.

Schedule

Full-time, Monday-Friday; occasional Saturdays.
