Communications Manager – Advocates for Informed Choice – Cotati, CA

About the Organization: Advocates for Informed Choice

AIC is a growing nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the human rights of intersex children. These children are born with internal or external sex organs that don’t fit typical definitions of male and female. The routine practice of surgically “normalizing” the internal organs and/or genital appearance of these children before they are able to consent has lately come under scrutiny, raising important legal, ethical, medical and social questions.

AIC uses innovative legal and other strategies to advocate for the human rights of children born with variations of reproductive or sexual anatomy. AIC also raises awareness about intersex and develops intersex youth leadership through our Inter/Act program. Recently AIC was featured in media including ABC Nightline, Buzzfeed, and Everyday Feminism, and our Inter/Act youth have been instrumental in consulting with MTV’s show Faking it!.
