Communications Intern – Parkinson’s Disease Foundation – New York, NY

The Parkinson’s Disease Foundation® (PDF®) is a leading national presence in Parkinson’s disease research, education and advocacy. We are working for the nearly one million people in the US who live with Parkinson’s by funding promising scientific research and supporting people with Parkinson’s, their families and care partners through educational programs and support services.

PDF is accepting resumes for a part-time paid internship position (15-20 hours per week) with its Communications team. The Communications Intern will assist with a wide variety of tasks related to PDF’s strategic communications efforts, including education, marketing, media outreach and digital communications. This position reports to the Director of Communications.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

performing outreach to members of the Parkinson’s community nationwide;
fact checking and proofreading educational publications and materials;
coordinating mailings to constituents;
posting events and news stories to www.pdf.org;
drafting content for print and online materials;
assisting with media clipping and tracking; and
helping with other administrative tasks as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

Graduate students and senior year undergraduate students will be considered. Applicants should possess:

excellent verbal and written communications skills;
attention to detail;
the ability to learn new technologies;
the ability to function as a team player and meet deadlines;
a proven interest in nonprofit work; and
preferably an academic focus on communications and marketing, public health or a related field.
