Communications Associate – Out Leadership LLC – New York, NY

Out Leadership seeks a Communications Associate to help tell its story to diverse audiences, from C-Suite business executives to national policy and opinion leaders, to advance our unique Return on Equalityâ„¢ business proposition. The position is based in our New York office.

The ideal candidate will be a communications professional with 2-4+ years of experience. They will have significant experience using words, images and data to craft compelling and engaging stories that can be told across platforms.

Equipped with a nuanced understanding of LGBT issues both in the United States and around the world, the ideal candidate will be personally invested in Out Leadership’s mission. They will be passionate about the stories we can tell, demonstrably committed to building a communications toolkit, and dedicated to ensuring that all of Our Leadership’s communications are highly polished. The ideal candidate will be prepared to engage professionally with senior business executive clients, while also feeling at home with Out Leadership’s flexible, smart, fun partnership culture.

Duties

Report to Out Leadership’s Director of Communications, and work closely with our Social Media Manager.

Support all of our strategic communications efforts:

Participate in strategic planning to develop monthly, quarterly, and yearly multi-channel communications calendars that include Public Relations, Direct Marketing, and Social Media projects
Craft copy for communications including (but not limited to):
Press releases
Media alerts
Op-eds
Talking points
Blog posts
Invitations
Social media posts
Research reports
News summaries
Marketing communications
Event collateral
Create and support the creation of produced/designed visual collateral, including printed materials, social media images, and invitations
Engage with corporate communications teams from member companies to ensure that we are providing them with visibility and return on investment
Manage archives of marketing materials and photos
Support and participate in video production processes
Support and participate in social media processes; execute community management strategies as needed
Working with our Event Management and Operations teams, support Event Communications, including:
Content/agenda development and copywriting
Gathering and managing speaker bios and photos

Qualifications and skills

Bachelor’s degree (or greater)
2-4+ years of experience supporting marketing/communications efforts, ideally in corporate environments. Interest in business preferred
Top-notch writer whose grammar sparkles, who knows how to structure an argument, and for whom typos cause almost physical pain
Sophisticated visual sense, fluent in design; able to use Adobe software to make well-produced documents in keeping with an established aesthetic, and comfortable communicating with designers to achieve projects that are beyond your design skills
Experience using data to define and support stories
Resourceful, creative, self-starter; one who relishes the opportunity to take charge of big projects and lead them to completion
Professional polish is necessary; experience dealing with senior business executives and their staffs is strongly preferred
Intense detail orientation; capable of prioritizing many projects at once to nail every deadline
Strong presentation and speaking skills
Skilled at using Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and Eventbrite
