Associate Director Of Communications – French American International School – San Francisco, CA

The Associate Director of Communications works directly with the Director of Marketing and Communications in the creation and implementation of a multi-faceted communications strategy to build and strengthen the school’s reputation within the independent school community and among current and prospective families and employees. He/she manages and expands the school’s online presence using compelling content and innovative techniques; devises guidelines and policies for web communications; collaborates closely with the school administration and teachers to advise them in the correct use of protocols; and provides quality control for online communications.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Communications

Aid in the development and implementation of internal and external communications efforts.
Identify opportunities to support school initiatives, develop communications, and publicize these activities.
Develop Newsroom email communications.

Content Development & Management

Manage and evolve a world-class website for the French American International School and International High School.
Cross-publish content on web channels and across social media outlets. Work closely with school administration, students, parents and faculty to manage and append content, keeping it up-to-date.
Produce content–including text–for regular news items and La Lettre, the annual magazine.

Advisory

Increase awareness of the many ways the school’s constituents can connect with the school online to stay informed.
Teach protocol and train support staff to upload content into the website portal.
Teach protocol and train support staff in the development of bulk email for lower, middle and high school, along with departments across the school.
Work with internal stakeholders and outside vendors to ensure a smooth workflow and timely implementation of campaigns. Manage disruptions in service.
Assist various departments with multiple website platforms, including class pages, athletics, global travel, event registration, online ticket purchases, and online giving.

Data & Analysis

Upload data from multiple systems as needed to ensure constituent information is current; and that all constituents have access to portal content.
Manage online scheduling system for parent-teacher conferences.
Analyze year-over-year site metrics (such as unique visitors, visits and page views).
Increase traffic to the site by using SEO, social media, and other inbound marketing strategies.
Monitor the effectiveness of email lists and campaigns.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Extensive experience using web content management tools.
Familiarity with database tools, data management, and Excel.
Familiarity with school database management and scheduling software.
Understand and respect constituent confidentiality and data security.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree.
At least 5+ years of relevant experience.
Experience working in an international, multicultural environment a plus.
Fluency in French a plus.

The Associate Director of Communications is well versed in online best practices, with a keen ability to prioritize and manage details. S/he manages content weekly and data seasonally, enhancing public-side promotions and private-side communications. S/he evangelizes the web as an instrumental marketing and communications tool, and trains/collaborates with school constituents in its use. S/he is pro-active and dynamic, with superb communication skills.
