Position Description
Background
LISC is a national non-profit intermediary that provides financial and technical assistance to community-based organizations, public agencies and private (for-profit) entities focused on the redevelopment of urban neighborhoods and rural communities. LISC’s business operations are centralized at our headquarters in New York City and support LISC’s national programs and our network of 31 local LISC offices in cities across the United States.

LISC seeks qualified candidates for the position of Program Assistant in the Family Income & Wealth Building (FIWB) department. FIWB, one of LISC’s national programs, works with LISC’s field offices and over 80 community-based organizations to support Financial Opportunity Centers, a service delivery model that provides “integrated” employment, financial coaching, and income supports services to low- and moderate-income neighborhood residents.

The Program Assistant will be responsible for providing a range of administrative, grant management, and communications functions to support the FIWB team. The successful candidate must be proactive, well organized, possess strong administrative and computer skills, able to handle multiple tasks in a timely manner, have excellent oral and written communication skills, and able to work both independently and in a team environment. Responsibilities
LISC seeks a program assistant to assist the FIWB team with the following:
Process all invoices/expense reports for payment and track payment status
Track and analyze monthly financial reports from subgrantees to ensure accuracy
Review and track required support documentation including criminal history checks and narrative reports for all subgrantees.
Provide support for trainings, conferences and special events including logistics and food arrangements
Write Requests for Program Action (RPAs), input them into grant system and track them through the approval process.
Set up new grantees in grant system and obtain necessary documentation.
Coordinate program consultants, track contracts, and pay invoices.
Create and maintain calendar of key department activities including grant report due dates, travel and other items.
Manage content for all social media accounts, including Facebook andTwitter.
Manage and coordinate communications and marketing materials generated by the local and national LISC offices
Create and maintain efficient organizational systems.
Undertake special projects as needed.
Perform day-to-day office functions such as ordering supplies, scanning and copying.

Qualifications and Experience:
Candidates for the position must have the following qualities and experience:

Undergraduate degree required; Master’s degree in a relevant field preferred;
Self-starter with at least two to four years of related professional experience;
Strong analytic skills and experience, especially in government grants administration;
Administrative or paralegal skills a plus;
Solid knowledge of federal government contract regulations, including federal OMB Circulars is preferred;
Knowledge of federal financial reports and federal audits preferred;
Advanced Excel capabilities;
Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of public and nonprofit partners is a must;
A high level of comfort interacting with colleagues via phone, e-mail, and webinar.

Job Specifications
This position is based in either LISC’s New York City headquarters or Chicago Office.
The position may involve some travel.
