STATUS: Non-Exempt Position

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time (37.5 Hours/Week with Benefits)

Typically Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends

Reporting to the Director of Institutional Giving and Strategic Initiatives, the Grant Writer researches and persuasively communicates Yerba Buena Center for the Arts’ mission and programs in writing to potential funders, developing compelling, high quality grant reports and proposals for foundations, corporations, government agencies, and other grantmaking organizations. We are looking for someone exceptionally organized and detail-oriented who loves writing and wants to have an impact by supporting community engagement in the arts.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

In collaboration with the Director of Institutional Giving and Strategic Initiatives, develop compelling, persuasive, beautifully presented and well-written grant reports and proposals, including the writing of narratives, preparation of budgets and financial reports, and development of final materials for submittal, ensuring all deadlines are met
Gather information from various YBCA departments to incorporate into grant proposals and reports
Research grant opportunities from various sources that match the goals and objectives of YBCA
Assist with administrative duties as needed in support of institutional fundraising
Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of demonstrated and proven experience in grant writing (in the arts field preferred)
Knowledge of Bay Area philanthropic community and national corporate and private foundations
Exceptional communication and organizational skills with strong grammar, creative writing, proofreading, and word processing skills
Excellent research, analytical skills, and attention to detail
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external
Ability to work effectively with people of diverse cultural backgrounds
Demonstrated track record of setting and achieving goals
Enthusiasm for YBCA’s mission, the arts, and community engagement
Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks under pressure of deadlines
