Our proven and replicable model focuses on community library and resource centers (READ Centers) as a vehicle for social and economic transformation. Over the past 24 years, READ Global has successfully established 79 READ Centers across Bhutan, India and Nepal, serving over 2.1 million rural villagers.

Position Overview:

READ Global is seeking a passionate, collaborative, creative, and self-directed Communications and Marketing Associate to join its small and fast-paced team at READ’s San Francisco headquarters. The Communications and Marketing Associate is a full time position working closely with senior leadership to raise visibility about the work of READ Global, build awareness about the needs of the communities READ serves, and promote a global community of supporters to grow our impact. Reporting to the Deputy Director, and working in close collaboration across all three affiliate teams in Bhutan, India, and Nepal, the Communications and Marketing Associate will support a wide range of functions integral to raising visibility and awareness of READ Global. Responsibilities will include managing the organization’s online presence; creating marketing collateral; and producing content for the blog; and supporting press outreach. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and mission-driven development professional who wants to gain a breadth of experience with a growing international non-profit organization.

Responsibilities:

Manage the development and distribution of READ’s Annual Report (print and online).
Support the production of annual progress reports to be shared with READ’s most significant donors.MarketingCommunications
Update marketing collateral for the organization on a regular basis, including country, program, and partnerships overviews. Liaise with READ’s contracted graphic designer to create new marketing collateral as necessary.
Oversee the organization’s online presence by providing regular updates to the READ Global website.
Write articles for the organization’s blog on a weekly basis, and manage the sending of quarterly e-newsletters to READ supporters.
Manage and execute the organization’s social media strategy, via Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.
Implement visibility-raising campaigns as needed.
Support public relations outreach as needed.
Participate in development of an annual communications and marketing strategy; track progress and continuously re-assess, re-align and report on indicators and objectives.
Support fundraising projects as needed.
General administrative support for board meetings including preparation of materials, reports and briefing updates.
General executive support for meetings, special projects and requests.

Qualifications/Characteristics:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the organization publicly and passionately to donors and partners.
Strong attention to detail; organized and systematic in communications and marketing project management.
Possess understanding of the current trends and best practices of communications and marketing.
Experience with various communications and marketing technology tools, software and skills (e.g. iContact, Photoshop/Creative Suite, HTML/CSS, Salesforce, social media, insights and analytics, Microsoft Office Suite, Powerpoint, Google AdWords.)
Ability to work across diverse cultures and different time zones (some evening or early morning calls with our Asia teams will be necessary to excel in this position).
Collaborative and self-directed with ability to work with a small and efficient team.
Passionate commitment to READ Global’s mission and vision and ability to thrive in a mission-driven environment.
Bachelor’s degree required.
