Associate Director of Development – Window to the World Communications Inc (WTTW/WFMT) – Chicago, IL

WTTW (Chicago PBS) and WFMT (classical music radio station) are seeking a full-time Associate Director of Development. This position is responsible for raising revenue for WWCI through developing relationships with prospects and donors that result in financial support for WTTW and WFMT special projects within the annual fund. This position will also raise revenue for WFMT through the direction of development activities, particularly the WFMT on-air membership drives and the Fine Arts Circle basic member annual fund.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of 125-175 prospects and major gift donors to WFMT and WTTW at the $5,000+ major gift.
Conduct 5 donor visits monthly and 15-20 meaningful points of connections, including handwritten notes, tune-in emails, phone calls, etc.
Ensure the benefit fulfillment of donors, including appropriate and accurate recognition and personalized, meaningful stewardship.
Manage donor events of the development team and implement follow up plans.
Direct the planning and implementation of WFMT on-air pledge drives twice a year; serve as a floor manager during the drives.
Manage all external partnerships associated with the WFMT on-air pledge drive.
Oversee thank-you gift research and selection with WFMT pledge committee; familiarity with classical music a plus.
Oversee vendors responsible for mailing of 5,000 basic membership renewal solicitations each month as well as gift acknowledgement letters.
Oversee the WFMT volunteer program and pledge drive volunteers, as well as solicitation and organization of food, prizes, and tickets used during pledge drives.
Prepare thank you gift descriptions, computer codes, and images for the pledge drive web page, on line giving web pages, and Team Approach.
Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS: The ideal candidate will have strong written and verbal communication skills as well as excellent people skills. Candidate must have outstanding organizational and planning skills and a proven track record in development. A positive, goal, and team-oriented attitude is essential. The ability to handle detailed work with accuracy and enthusiasm is crucial. Proficiency with basic software programs is required. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, strategic, and creative. Driver’s license also required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree required, advanced degree a plus. CFRE also a plus.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: The Associate Director of Development will have at least 4-6 years’ experience in development, with extensive experience in working with major donors and stewarding their interests in the organization. Managing data and experience in gathering, compiling, and presenting reports ranging from stewardship to research, is also required. Event management also a plus.
