The mission of Vietnamese Friendship Association is to advance equity in education, foster civic engagement, and advocate for Vietnamese and other refugee and immigrant communities. Future Volunteer Manager

The new Volunteer Manager for VFA will work closely with the Executive Director, Associate Director and Fund Development Manager to provide leadership and support to program staff; develop and manage VFA’s volunteer and donor engagement strategies; and assure that VFA’s various programs are supported through active volunteer support.

Responsibilities:

Develop and oversee a new volunteer management system which provides authentic opportunities for volunteer engagement

Develop a new volunteer management system– that reflects the mission and strategic priorities of VFA, which maximizes the unique skills and contributions of volunteers and supporters.
Conduct ongoing evaluation of the programs and services delivered by volunteers and implement improvements as necessary
Ensure that volunteer check-in procedures are followed and records of activities are updated using VFA’s CiviCRM database
Administer and monitor expenditures for the volunteer program against the approved annual budget

Coordinate volunteer efforts with organizational and program needs

Implement a screening process for potential volunteers according to accepted screening standards and practices
Train VFA staff how to work effectively and cooperatively with volunteers.
Orient volunteers to increase their understanding of the VFA, our clients, and services. And ensure volunteers receive the appropriate level of supervision and training to be successful in their positions
Leverage volunteer skills and experiences to develop high-performing teams that contribute to program quality and growth
Plan formal and informal events to recruit and recognize new and existing supporters, including but not limited to volunteers, donors, and partners

Support VFA’s development plan through positive volunteer and community engagement strategies

Work with Fund Development Manager to develop and implement an outreach plan that identifies and recruits new volunteers and supporters to VFA
Support any events related to promoting VFA, including, but not limited to, Annual Benefit Dinner, World Café, etc.

The Ideal Candidate

A passion for the mission, vision and values of VFA. The candidate will have experience working in areas that may include, but are not limited to, refugee and immigrant populations, youth development, education, civic engagement, or social justice/equity issues and a background growing an organization to maximize impact.
2-4 years of work related experience in the responsibilities of this role, including, but not limited to, volunteer management and community organizing; or 2-4 year degree in a related field
Someone whose values align with those of VFA’s (see below attachment)
An understanding of the Vietnamese—or other refugee and immigrant–culture, language and heritage, and issues that impact refugee and immigrant communities.
Multilingual applicants are preferred.
