Executive Assistant – US Human Rights Network – New York, NY

General Description: The US Human Rights Network (USHRN), a national network of organizations and individuals working to strengthen a human rights movement and culture within the United States led by the people most directly impacted by human rights violations. USHRN is seeking an energetic and organized Executive Assistant to provide support directly to the Executive Director.

Specific Duties Include:

Provide timely, accurate and effective administrative support to the Executive Director;
Perform general administrative duties such as receiving guests; scheduling meetings, appointments, travel; answering phones, managing mail; filing; photocopying; etc. for the Executive Director;
Type correspondence upon request of the Executive Director;
Assist Executive Director and Treasurer in developing annual budget Assist Executive Director with grant coordination, writing and reporting
Assist Executive Director with management and oversight of all human resources initiatives, recruitment, and labor law compliance;
Maintain employee and non-employee (Consultants, Interns, Volunteers) personnel files;
Manage and review employee timesheets;
Work with the Office Manager to manage the acquisition and installation of technology equipment for all new hires, including new user accounts, computer, telephone etc.;
Coordinate and renew employee benefits, including health insurance, disability and life insurance, retirement plan, and transit benefits including ensuring competitive pricing that benefit staff.
Ensure the Employee Handbook is up to date;
Coordinate and process employee hire and departures including sharing all necessary and completed paper work with appropriate parties, and scheduling orientation and exit interviews.
Oversee email account system for staff and interns, including creation and deletion of accounts.
Provide logistical support for Board Meetings, and for Executive Director.
Perform additional tasks on an ad-hoc basis, and according to the prioritization set by the Executive Director;

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience;
2+ years of executive administration experience or similar experience involving complex scheduling and logistics;
Excellent interpersonal skills and proven track record of exercising good judgment;
Strong organizational skills and experience with budgets;
Keen attention to detail;
Positive, professional, team-oriented attitude;
Proactive and able to successfully handle multiple priorities while remaining flexible and highly professional;
Ability to complete tasks in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner;
Excellent written and oral communication abilities;
Ability to prepare and process information of a sensitive nature (including personnel and organizational topics) while maintaining confidentiality;

Desired Qualifications: An interest in or understanding of human rights and/or social movements in the United States.

Location: USHRN has headquarters in Atlanta and an office in NYC. This position will be located in New York.

Compensation: Salary range is $42,000 to $50,000, depending on experience, and is full time. Position is based in New York City.
